Pomy Lite 2 App revisa
doesnt work
the app doesn't stat on os Monterey 12.3.1 waste of time
Worse than version 1 but still good.
I like Pomy and I have used it for years, however, this version 2 update is worse than version 1 since now I have to manually exit the pomy window after each 20 sec break, which can get annoying. I also think that the design is slightly worse, comared to version 1, as the timer animations are more ridged, however, since it is still fully functional, I think it is fair. I do think that the paid version is better as it has soft full screen break screen from the previous version which I really liked and would have liked to have back.
Simple, but very useful
Great app to help remind me to take breaks every 20 minutes. Does what it claims to do, no problems. Only enhancement that would be nice to have is "launch on restart". Currently I just have to remember to start the app every time I restart my Mac, which is rare.
Found no way to uninstall
When i type force quit, it says i cannot because the app is open. But nothing I try will close it. There is no uninstall option. Command Q does not get rid of it. Do not install this app! This app is very disruptive for me and I have been trying to get rid of it.
Nice and helpful!
a good, recommended app if your struggling to take breaks!
Beautiful, but not customizable
I love the aesthetics of this app. Unfortunatly, I couldn't find a way to change the duration of the focus/break periods or a way not automatically start the next period timer. If you like the way it is set up, it will works wonderfully. If you want to tailor your times, it is less useable.
Great for what I need
I shared this maps with others when talking about the 20/20 rule for eyes. Pros: it works exactly as intended. Once I was able to turn off the sound - which took a second to located and it could be a bit aggressive. Cons: it works exactly as intended. When you're in the zone and your screen reminds you to relax your eyes it can throw off the focus and I usually exit when I'm really focused. << that is a personal problem and nothing to do with the app working itself. Just worth a mention since you're reading this.
Great but needs improvment
It is really a great app, i used it always for sake of my eyes, beautiful and simple, however there can be few more opyions to make it even better, 1- when you start the timer, the app should automaticlly hide itself. 2- to be able to decrease the 20 min to something like 10 min as sometimes i take few eye-breaks till that 20min comes. Thanks again for making available for free
Good concept, implemented badly as an app
The good: - 20 minute reminders are good The bad: - It's hard to toggle/close off, and it's really intrusive sometimes - If you press ESC pomy will create tons of reminders for some reason, and it also interrupts shutdown.
Great idea but...
It really needs to allow settings for the timer. 20 minute only is way too limited.
Nice
Simple and yet powerfull. Would be nice to have a configurable schedule when it is active like working hours etc.
Good concept but a few issues
I like the design and idea of this, that's why I originally chose it over the other apps that do the same thing. However after using it for a couple weeks I've found a few annoying issues. The smallest is that when you have the setting on to be notified when the timer isn't running, this notification only has two options: to start the timer or remind you again in a few minutes. So if you're using your computer for music for example, it'll keep showing an alert every few minutes because there's no option to snooze for longer or to just ignore unless you quit out of the app or change the setting. A bit more annoying, the actual window always pops up above everything else when the timer starts so you need to keep clicking to hide it. Also, when your mac goes to sleep, the timer resets. Even if it's for half a second. Small problems but together it kind of makes using this pointless becaues it's supposed to be a simple app
Simply awesome
This app has the exact functionaality that I want. It blocks your screen every 20 minutes for 20 seconds to reduce stress on my eyes. Just one issue, the grey screen is not covering the monitors, but other than that, it's a simple and perfect app. Love it.
optuon to remove the window?
the menubar icon is functional enough, no need for the window of a count down page to cover up a square of the screen and needs to manually close everytime. Thanks. Look forward to the update.
One Big Feature Missing
Overall, I'm a big fan of the idea and functionality. I had heard about this research and practice regarding 20-20-20, and I'm happy to have an application that does exactly what it proposes. However, as a dual-monitor user, the application falls short because I can't choose what monitor to display it on. If I have my laptop open while primarily working on my monitor, it only shows on my laptop screen. It would be great for it to show on both, or to be able to choose which. Thanks for your work!
Beautiful, non-intrusive
Great micro app that works as advertised: giving me a nudge every 20 minutes to rest my eyes. Doesn't have a boatload of settings but it doesn't need to. Kudos to the dev!
Great idea, but perhaps too limited
Initially I thought this app was exactly what I was looking for: a minimal, simple visual timer I could see on my screen at all times. The idea for me using this was to avoid further distractions, but unfortunately I can’t find an option to turn off the sound effects (it makes noises every time you click on any icon in the window). Also, there’s no option to edit the amount of time on the timer: 20 minutes is fine, but I was hoping for something a little bit longer for my work day. I think it does a fine job for its primary purpose, as long as it fits your work style and timeline. (NOTE: I understand that this isn’t a pomodoro timer, but it would be awesome if it were!!)
Nice reminder to rest your eyes, but it’s an energy hog
Pomy has a higher average energy impact than anything else on my 2017 MBP: 8.61 vs Google Chrome 8.03 and Safari 4.44. I haven’t investigated whether something nefarious is going on yet, but it could just be a bad timer implementation.
